Racheal June Battle

Salisbury - Racheal June Battle, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, July 27, 2019. She was born July 16, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA, daughter of the late Rocko Alexander Creatore and Mary Dupree Creatore. June was a majorette in high school and attended Birmingham Business School. She married Bill Battle on September 9, 1946. They traveled extensively with Bill’s career before settling in Birmingham, AL to raise a family. After her children were in school, June worked at Baptist Medical Center, Montclair where she was Director of several departments. She retired from that position after the birth of her first granddaughter and became Mimi to us all. Always an artist, June brought beauty and grace to so many people and places. She enjoyed being a member of the Rail Walk Art Gallery. A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, June was a devoted reader (reading thousands of books) and she loved to travel. Dinner at Santo’s and Pinocchio’s were her favorite evenings. Mrs. Battle was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Battle, brother, Addison Creatore and sister, Judy Brown. She is survived by her daughters & their husbands, Jayne and John Helms, Betsy and Lamar Reeves; grandchildren, Abigail Haas (Dustin), Harrison White, Racheal Reeves and Christopher Helms (Carolina); great grandchildren, Madelynn Haas and Oliver Helms; special niece Tissy Swann (Dan) and dear friend, Tammy McLeod (Gregg). A graveside service will be held Monday, August 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, led by Rev. Rhodes Woolly. Following the service, friends and family are invited to Rail Walk Studios and Gallery, 409 N Lee Street for a Celebration of June’s Life.
