Nan Correll Graeber

Nan Correll Graeber, 91, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at Glen A Kiser Hospice House, Salisbury, NC. Mrs. Graeber was born January 23, 1931, in China Grove, NC., to the late James Edwin and Vertie Cline Correll. She was a graduate of China Grove High School and attended Appalachian State University where she graduated May of 1953. Mrs. Graeber married the love of her life May 23, 1953. Mrs. Graeber started her teaching career in Boone, NC. After a year stay in Germany with her beloved husband, Bud Graeber, Mrs. Graeber spent her time and energy raising her four children in Salisbury. In 1974, Mrs. Graeber started teaching at Henderson Elementary School where she spent 7 years before becoming the Office Manager for CL Graeber Insurance Services. Mrs. Graeber retired in 2003 to enjoy spending time with her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Graeber was very active in her community serving on various committees with the Junior Women’s Club, Women’s Auxiliary, and with her St. John’s women’s circles. She was always willing to help and provide comfort to others throughout her lifetime. She was proceeded in death by brothers James Correll, Ray A. Correll and Hoy C. Correll, Sr. and her sister Elizabeth Correll Pully. Some of her favorite childhood memories included playing tennis and basketball. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years Charles L “Bud” Graeber, daughters Cindy Jacobs and husband Ron, Karen Shelton and husband Mike, Betsy Myers and husband John and son Charles L Graeber II and wife Lori, all of Salisbury. With a caring spirit, Nan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to all her family. Faith and family always came first. She loved her times at the beach with everyone together. She was always making sure everyone was taken care of and that they had what they needed. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8th at St John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rhodes Woolly officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund at St John’s Lutheran Church, 200 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144 and The Graeber Family Scholarship at Appalachian State University. 425 Jack Branch Dr. Boone NC 28608. A Celebration of Mrs. Graeber’s Life will be held following the service.
