Mitzi Eaton McGraw

Mitzi Eaton McGraw of Huntersville, NC died January 28, 2021 after a brave battle with a prolonged illness. A native of Salisbury, Mitzi was born on April 27, 1953, the daughter of Libby Helms Hurley and the late James Leonard Hurley. Mitzi’s childhood with her sister, Vicki, was spent with family and friends in the Eaman Park neighborhood. She graduated from Salisbury High School in 1971 and graduated from Lees-McRae College. She had a tireless work ethic and a natural talent for sales which was made evident through various awards, certificates and recognitions. She spent much of her life working in the furniture industry and went on to have a career in real estate in later years and developed uncountable friendships with clients and coworkers. Mitzi was fiercely loyal in all aspects of her life: professional, family, friendships, and her Christian faith. She held her friends and family close to her heart, and she never missed a chance to tell them that she loved them. She and husband Joe enjoyed cheering on the Panthers, spending beautiful days out on the lake, and travelling to various cities across the country. Mitzi had a great sense of family and loved to laugh and play with her daughters and granddaughters. Mitzi is survived by her husband, Joseph McGraw of Huntersville, NC; mother, Libby Hurley of Salisbury; two daughters, Jessica Eaton Goodman (Nick) of Salisbury, NC and Alexandra Eaton Poole (Charlie) of Charleston, SC; step-daughter Charlotte Eaton Artus (Alan) of London, England; step-son Michael Eaton of Mooresville, NC; two granddaughters Mary Masters Goodman and Brooks Goodman; step-granddaughter Delilah Artus and step-grandson Leo Artus; sister, Vicki Hurley Medlin (Tim) of Salisbury; nephews Timmy Readling and Tommy Readling of Salisbury; aunt Gail Austin (Ronald) of Concord, NC; sister-in-law Diane Smith (Jim) of Denver, NC; brother-in-law Danny McGraw (Pam) of Denver, NC; and sister-in-law Carrie McGraw of Lake Murray, SC. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hurley; husband, Bill Eaton; and brother-in-law, Tommy Eaton. Mitzi is also survived by her two, four-legged “sons,” Jack and Finley McGraw. They brought her such joy during the last years of her life. A private service will be held for the family. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the McGraw family.
