Mildred "Millie" Caudle Thompson

Mrs. Mildred “Millie” Caudle Thompson, of Spencer, lived 87 years on this beautiful Earth. She passed away on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at her daughter’s residence. She was the daughter of the late John Marvin Caudle and Lillie Mae McKnight Caudle. Born March 29th, 1939, in Yadkin County, NC, she was a graduate of East Bend High School and captain of the girls’ basketball team. Mrs. Thompson was employed by McDonald’s for nineteen years as a hostess and cashier. Before and after working at McDonald’s she was a homemaker, lovingly caring for her family. Mrs. Thompson was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church. If the doors of the church were open, she was there. She was active in her community and an avid gardener, often sharing fresh vegetables with her neighbors. She loved flowers and received the Spencer Community Appearance award multiple times. In 2021, she was presented with the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award from the Spencer Jaycees. Preceding her in death was the love of her life, James E. “Eddie” Thompson and her siblings William Caudle, Dewey Caudle, Dorothy Matthews, Lois Evans, Betty Ann Clodfelter, James “Jimmy” Caudle, and Frances Atkins. She is survived by her brother, Roger Caudle of Winston-Salem; son, Jim Thompson and wife Patricia of Statesville; daughter, Karen Larimore Wilkinson of Spencer; grandchildren, Savannah Larimore of Austin, T.X.; Ron Smith and wife Katherine of Statesville; Amy Blakley and husband Scott of Marshville, and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Patricia, and Oliver Walden and Eli, Lucy, and Ryder Smith. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Trellis Supportive Care hospice team. Visitation: The family with receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, May 7th at Summersett Funeral Home. Services: The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8th at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Rev. Sam Lewis and Rev. Steve Combs. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
