Judy Connell Talley

Judy Connell Talley, 83, of Woodleaf NC, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving children. Judy was born June 7, 1943 in Rowan County, NC, to the late Carl Connell and Mildred McIntyre Connell. On June 2, 1961 she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Jimmy Talley. They enjoyed 57 ½ years of marriage until his death in 2020. Together Judy and Jimmy built a strong and loving family with their children, Renae, Donnie, and Ronnie. Judy’s salvation occurred in 1st grade after hearing the gospel from WBTA teacher, Catherine Brazell. She lived her entire life serving the Lord faithfully. She was a member of The Arbor Church serving in numerous rolls. She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, women’s ministries, friendship club, administrative board, and others. Judy graduated from West Rowan High School in 1961 and remained active with class members and reunion planning until her death. She worked as the secretary for the facilities manager at Freightliner until her retirement and after her retirement she became secretary at The Arbor Church until her death. Judy loved her family, to her children she was beloved “Mama”, and to the grandson’s beloved “Nina”. She spent her entire life loving, caring, and encouraging them in all their interests and endeavors. Miss Judy, as she was lovingly called by many, loved to plan and decorate for events. She was also known for her great cooking and enjoyed hosting family and friends for weekly Sunday dinners. She always had a ready smile or encouraging word for others. Judy was known for her kindness and sweet spirit. Judy loved music and found joy in favorite hymns like “He Leadeth Me”, “Blessed Assurance” and “Jesus loves me”. Her favorite scripture passage was Psalm 100 “serve with gladness”. Miss Judy exemplified a lifetime of joy and servitude. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Talley, son James Ronald “Ronnie” Talley, daughter-in-law Kathy Jordan Talley, brother James “Pete” Connell and niece Meredith Hylton. Those left to cherish her memory; daughter Renae Talley Brown (Craig); son Donnie Talley (Kim), both of Woodleaf; grandsons Caleb Brown, Tyler Brown (Destiny), Ethan Brown, and Elijah Brown; great grandsons Silas Brown and Levi Brown. Sister-in-law Nancy Hylton (Billy); Nephews Andy Hylton (Kim) and Dan Hylton (Julie). The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM at The Arbor Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, Salisbury, NC. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Dwayne Lambeth. Memorials may be made to West Rowan Bible Teaching Association, P.O.
