Jami Chambers

Jami Chambers, 65, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and kidney failure, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, Jami's love for animals began at an early age. One of her happiest childhood memories was caring for and riding her beloved pony, a reflection of her lifelong affection for horses and the outdoors. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and caring nature were evident from a young age and would later shape both her personal and professional life. Jami attended East Carolina University, where she earned a degree in Recreational Therapy. She dedicated her career to helping others, finding great fulfillment in working with senior adults in rehabilitation and therapy centers. Her compassion, patience, and genuine concern for those in her care touched countless lives throughout her professional journey. Following college, Jami relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to pursue her career. There she met the love of her life, Maxwell Chambers. Their marriage was built on love, friendship, and devotion, creating a strong foundation for a life filled with family, cherished memories, and shared experiences. Above all, Jami was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She took tremendous pride in her two children from an earlier marriage and celebrated their accomplishments with boundless love and encouragement. She is survived by her daughter and son from an earlier marriage, Ashley Gerard, who pursued a career in the medical field, and her son, Stewart Gerard, an internationally recognized photographer whose creativity and success brought her great joy. Jami was one of four sisters and shared a special bond with each of them. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Diane and Susan. She is survived by her sister, Cathy Fletcher, and Cathy's husband of 31 years, Fred Fletcher, of Washington, North Carolina. Jami will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to helping others, her love of family, and the quiet strength and grace with which she faced life's challenges. Though Alzheimer's disease gradually stole many memories, it could never diminish the love she shared with those around her or the lasting impact she made on so many lives.
