Claudette Miles Burnette

Claudette Miles Burnette, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2026 after a brief illness. Claudette was born on August 8, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Claude and Etta Miles. She grew up in Christiansburg, Virginia, where she attended school. She later moved to North Carolina, making her home in Huntersville and Salisbury. Claudette was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Etta Miles; her beloved husband of 26 years, James Burnette; her son, Robert Cummings; her brother, Billy Miles; her sister, Henrietta Keister; and her step-grandson, Jason Ramsey. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Coleman (Sam) and Kathy Tarlton (Gary); her stepdaughters, Mary Allen and Donna Rhymer (Richard); her brothers, Claude Miles, Jr., J.D. Miles, Gilbert Miles (Judy), and Don Miles (Robin); and her sisters, Reba Smart and Ruby Spencer (Harold). Claudette also leaves behind her grandchildren, Shannon Helms, James Coleman, Jr. (Gabrielle), Amy Pittman (Frankie), Blake McIntosh, and Mitchell McIntosh (fiancée Megan); her step-granddaughter, Casandra Miller (Chris); her great-grandchildren, Bryce Coleman (Taylor), Jacob Perdue, Caitlyn Perdue, Avery Pittman, Ava Coleman, Lynley Pittman, Ayden Coleman, Hayden McIntosh, Kinslee Pittman, Parker Helms, and Miles Pittman; step-great- grandchildren Michael and James Bragg and Landyn and Joshua Miller and her great-great-granddaughter, Maisley Perdue. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. Claudette had a special talent for gardening and decorating, bringing beauty and warmth to the spaces around her. She also enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends. Most of all, she treasured the time she spent with those she loved. Claudette will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 PM Saturday, September 19th at Summersett Funeral Home. A memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday in Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Pastor Shake Smith.
