Mr. Christopher Lee Poplin

Christopher Lee “Chris” Poplin, formerly of Salisbury passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Park Ridge Hospital, Hendersonville, NC Born December 23, 1965 in Salisbury, was the son of Matthew “Gene” Poplin of Mocksville and the late Barbara Jean Dye Poplin. Chris was educated at Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from North Hills Christian School. He received his Associate Degree and also his EMT Certification from Rowan Cabarrus Community College and graduated with a BS degree from Catawba College. He was formerly employed for Rowan County EMS and volunteered for the East Spencer Fire Department, Ellis Cross Country Fire Department and Franklin Volunteer Fire Department. Chris was a member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, a former member of the Choir and the Young Fellowship Sunday School Class. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Opal and Henry Poplin of Davie County In addition to his father,. “Gene Poplin, he was also survived by his aunt and uncles,. James and Gail Brewer of Winston-Salem,. Marvin Leon Dye of West Memphis, AR, Robert Allen Dye of Walls, MS and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends from 3-4 PM Thursday at the Summersett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 4 PM Thursday (Aug. 29) at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Christopher O’Guin, minister of North Kannapolis Baptist Church and Rev. Bobby Seagroves, officiating. Interment will follow at City Memorial Park. How you could withstand all that pain and suffering for 12 long years is so simply beyond comprehension. I suppose it may have been that indomitable spirit you got from your Mom. I went by and talkled to her and told her we are getting ready to send you up to her. Of course she will be waiting with open arms. I want to thank you for being a good son. Did you do everything correctly?, of course not. Did you make some mistakes! Of course you did. But that’s ok. So did your Dad. Almighty God has long since forgiven us. I thank him for loaning you to me for all these years. He has reclaimed you and you should listen to him now and everything will be fine. Son, there will be no more pain and that ride to Heaven will be smooth. A wonderful, beautiful experience awaits you.
