Carrie Mitchell Yelton

Carrie Mitchell Yelton, 88, of Salisbury died peacefully Friday, November 22, 2013 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center surrounded by her loving children. She was born December 8, 1924 in Kings Creek, South Carolina the youngest child of William Marion and Ida Mae Love Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved husband of 66 years, Paul David Yelton. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and the most wonderful Mother ever. She loved her family. friends, music, dancing, quilting, and her church. She instilled in her children to have love and compassion for others, to treat everyone equally and to dance and sing as though everyone was watching. In her retirement, she made the most beautiful quilts and dolls. The Salisbury-Rowan Quilter's Guild awarded her a Lifetime Achievement and Lifetime Membership award in 2009. Mrs. Yelton is survived by her 3 children, daughter, Barbara Christine Yelton Perry (Mark) of Salisbury, twin sons, Paul Donald Yelton (Jane) of Marietta, Georgia, and David Ronald Yelton (Kathy) of Charlotte. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Mark Braswell Perry, Ronda-Lyn Yelton, Sheri-An Yelton Garside (Adam), Adriane Yelton Sammons (David), Theresa Yelton McDaniels (Brent), Elizabeth Katherine Perry Bullock (Bill), Cynthia Beale Perry Borjes, and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a nephew, Donald Richard Stewart. A memorial service will be conducted in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Salisbury on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11 am with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lance, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Salisbury, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144 or Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 3097, Salisbury, NC 28145 Her children would like to thank her caregivers for their kindness and compassion in caring for our Mother in the last few years of her life. She was so happy to be in her own home. Jean, Janet, Jackie, Angelica, Mary, Joanne, and Quala, you are the best. Thanks also to Dr. Brent Seifert for his care and compassion in her final days.
