Sarah Louise Glenn Waddell, 92, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born August 2, 1928 in Belmont, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Caldwell Glenn and John Lester Glenn. She was educated in the China Grove schools, graduated from China Grove High School, Wingate College and was a member of the first graduating class of Cabarrus School of Nursing in 1951. She was a former Miss China Grove. Mrs. Waddell was a Registered Nurse and was employed at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital, Rowan Memorial Hospital, served as a Rowan County Health Department Nurse and a school nurse before retiring in 1990. She was a member of Milford Hills Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and taught and served in various capacities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Devon Waddell on August 17, 1996; sister, Mary Beaver; brothers, Johnny Glenn and Billy Glenn. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carol W. Nesbit (Wade) of Concord, Bonnie W. VonCanon (Walter) of Harrisburg, Amy W. Chunn (Don) of New London, and Andrina Kay Waddell (Kenny Seagle) of China Grove; brother, Ray Eugene Glenn (Nancy) of Faith; two granddaughters, Wendi Crawford and Chloe Collins, seven grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Thursday (Aug 5) at Milford Hills Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Jim Harris, officiating. A private committal service will be held following the service at Westlawn Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Nesbit, Brad VonCanon, Adam Chunn, Josh VonCanon, Ryan VonCanon, Greg Chunn and Corbin Bolick, and Honorary Pallbearer great-grandson, Carter Nesbit. The family would like to thank the physicians and all the medical providers who played a part in her care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Milford Hills Baptist Church, 1238 E.
