Sam Finley Thomason, 93, of Salisbury, NC passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center. Sam was born June 20, 1927 in Carterville, GA to the late Pearl Bessent Thomason and George Young Thomason. Mr. Thomason was a graduate of Spencer High School and attended Catawba College. He was a US Army Veteran. He was self-employed paint contractor and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Thomason was a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rachael Fesperman Thomason on February 24, 2016 and brothers, George Young Thomason and T. Watson Thomason and sisters, Lucile T. Lewis, Marguerite T. Bellone and Elizabeth T. Graham; and son-in-law, H. Eugene Curlee. Surviving are his son, Michael Finley Thomason of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Anne Thomason Curlee of Salisbury, NC; granddaughter, Laura C. Leonard (Christopher) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and great-grandchildren: Emma E. Leonard and Christopher (Jack) Leonard, Jr. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, January 14, at Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. John Elam. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Franklin Presbyterian Church, Missions Committee, 280 Franklin Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.
