Ruth Cable McSwain Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth Cable McSwain, 78, of Salisbury, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born May 20, 1943 in Rowan County, and was the daughter of the late Naomi Moore Cable and Rufus McKinney Cable. She was educated in the Highland Park schools, Highland Park, FL, graduated from Pilot High School, Thomasville and attended Salisbury Business College, Salisbury and Ashmore Business College, Thomasville. She was employed by Burlington Industries, Cooleemee, Cone Mills and 20 years for UTI, Inc. at Invista before retiring. Mrs. McSwain was a member of Community Baptist Church, Cooleemee where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Eureka Lodge #277, China Grove and received the Citizen of the Year for Cone Mills in 1990. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin McSwain on November 29, 2015; brothers, Paul Cable, Gary Cable and Jimmy Cable; sisters, Norma Jean Helm, Joan Jones and Peggy Keller. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, LaDonna Overcash and husband Tim of Salisbury; sister, Carolyn Johnson and husband Joe of Farmington; grandchildren, Derek Michael Overcash and wife Heather and Daniel Aaron Overcash and wife Anna of Salisbury; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Emma, Greyson, Hallie and Charlie.
