Richard Calvin Vanhoy, 92, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.. Born December 8, 1928 in Stanly County, he was the son of Spencer and Pearl Shepherd Vanhoy. He attended Albemarle High School and served his country in the United States Air Force in Japan. Mr. Vanhoy worked at Rowan Printing Company, Rowan Business Forms and Butler’s Office Machines, Salisbury before retiring 1993. He loved sports, especially bowling, golf and baseball. He bowled 60 years at Woodleaf Lanes, enjoyed golfing and watching his favorite baseball teams with his “Babe”. He loved his family as well as Annette’s, especially attending family reunions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Vanhoy, Lee Vanhoy, Tommy Vanhoy; sister, Betty Cranford. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 ½ years, “Babe” Annette Thompson Vanhoy; brothers, Billy Vanhoy (Brenda) of Concord, John Vanhoy (Debbie) of Charlotte; sisters, Louise Mathis of Albemarle, Ruby Stoker (Robert) of Albemarle, Peggy Goodman of Albemarle; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Wednesday at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church followed by the service at 11 AM with the Rev. Larry Gilbreath, minister and Rev. Quinton Covington officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum. Special thanks to Annette’s niece, Juanita Russell and Richard’s nephew, Ed Vanhoy who were so faithful to be with Annette during this difficult time.
