Peggy Ann Peeler Whitman

Peggy Ann Peeler Whitman, 91, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at Summit Place Assisted Living in Mooresville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Cleveland Peeler and Daisy Waller Peeler of Salisbury, NC. Mrs. Whitman was a 1950 graduate of Boyden High School. After graduation she worked for the FBI in Washington, DC and the NC State Employee Credit Union in Raleigh, NC. In 1960 she and her family moved to Lenoir, NC where she worked for Lower Creek Baptist Church, Davenport Junior High School and the Caldwell County School system. She retired in 1995. She was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending church events, volunteering at Caldwell Memorial Hospital, making peanut brittle, spoiling her grandson and traveling with her two sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a son, Gary E. Whitman (Mary Lynn) of Davidson, NC; one grandson, Patrick (Ashley) of Salem, OR; on great-granddaughter, Iyari of Salem, OR and sixteen nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held Tuesday January 25, 2022 at 11AM at Rowan Memorial Park cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dan Duke. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 1406 Harper Avenue, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Whitman family.
