Mary Hunter Knapp

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Knapp (nee Hunter) announce her passing on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the age of 74, in Salisbury NC. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Bill and David, sisters Anne, Janet, and Margie, and so many other family members and numerous friends. Mary was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Walter Knapp, and her parents William and Emilia Hunter. Born and raised in Philadelphia and East Lansdowne, PA, Mary was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School and Holy Family College, and later received her teacher certification, going on to teach at Central Davidson Middle School and West Rowan High School. Mary and Walt enjoyed traveling the world together, living in Toms River, NJ, then moving to Salisbury, NC when Walt retired. Mary became an active volunteer in her Sacred Heart Catholic Church community, as well as other service organizations, including Meals On Wheels Rowan, and especially Relay For Life of Rowan County. The 2022 Relay For Life of Rowan County will be dedicated to Mary, and donations to make this a successful event in her honor will be greatly appreciated! http://main.acsevents.org/goto/maryknappmemorial Visitation will be Monday, February 28, 2022, 10 – 11 a.m., with Funeral Mass to follow, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury, NC, and internment to follow in the church cemetery.
