July 1, 1929 - July 26, 2021
Mabel Frances Deal Freeman, 92, of Mooresville, a loving, gentle woman entered the arms of her Savior on July 26, 2021. She lived a simple life that by comparison may have seemed to be one lacking in wealth or position. However, she was the best wife, sister, mother, nana, Grandma Frances, neighbor, and friend. Most of all, she was an example of what a Christian woman should be to all she came in contact with. She was born July 1, 1929, to Mabel and Otho Deal of Mooresville. She was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth R. Brafford and Carl Freeman. Also, by her daughter, Joan Smith’s recent death. She was a graduate of Landis High School where she was a member of multiple clubs and the basketball team. Her work career of thirty plus years was at General Times in Davidson. During this time, she also worked twenty years at Care-Inn Rest Home owned by her late brother, Wayne Deal. She worked a part-time job also at Davidson College. Frances was a very active member of First Reformed Church in Landis. She was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class and served on the consistory as a deacon and was on the mission team. She was a nursery worker, taught Sunday School, volunteered at VBS, and was on the cooking team. She also later in life volunteered at the VA Hospital. Frances loved her family, Church, and community. She was known as a hard worker and caretaker to so many. Frances loved to talk about growing up with her family on their farm, and on the Corriher Dairy Farm with all the fond memories she made there. She lived her life by strong Christian morals and will leave a legacy of being a compassionate, nurturing, loving, and wonderful person. When looking back on Frances’s life, one could truly say that she taught our family how to love others more than we should love ourselves and to truly be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. We will all miss Frances, but she will not leave behind fancy titles, wealth or position, but she will leave behind a testimony second to none. Those left to cherish her memories are: Kent Brafford and wife Dinah, grandchildren; Thomas & Krizel Mabry of Asheville, Anne & James Goodnight (great grandson Jack), of Salisbury; grand-daughter Cyndi Walton of Mooresville; great grandson Jesse Walton and wife Hannah (great-great grandchildren Hailey, Taylor, Wyatt). Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm Friday, (July 30th) at First Reformed Church in Landis. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday at First Reformed Church officiated by the Rev. David Franks. Graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery beside of Mt. Zion UMC. Memorials may be given to First Reformed Church, 210 N. Central Ave., Landis, NC 28088; designated for the purchase of Audio-Visual Equipment to continue the ministry outreach of her Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brooke Stirewalt, Misty Bradshaw, and Carla Clay for their care and love during Frances’ home stay. Also a special thank you to Hospice Tucker House and the extraordinary nursing care at Caremoor Nursing Facility. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Freeman family.
