Lillian Rommerskirchen Wehrle

December 16, 1924 - January 16, 2022

Lillian Marie Rommerskirchen Wehrle, of Salisbury, NC passed away Sunday, January 16 at Atrium Northeast Medical Center in Concord, NC. Born December 16, 1924 in Pocahontas, Ill she was the daughter of the late Herman Anton Rommerskirchen and Lillian Minerva Kisskadden. She was an active member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, Woodleaf Recreational Bowling League, and Rufty-Holmes Bingo. She enjoyed all kinds of games including dominos, cards, and board games and loved teaching them to family and friends. She regularly went to Friday dinner and card playing with her Ladies Church group. She was always very competitive and we often accused her of cheating because of how good she was and how often she would win. She was fiercely independent and drove herself to weekly hair appointments, bowling, bingo and cards. She loved staying active, spending time with her family and friends, and was quick with a smile, laugh and lively conversation. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl H “Butch” Wehrle. Lillian was the eighth of eleven children and is survived by her brother, Walter ‘Romy’ Romerskirchen of Danville, Ill.; daughter Karen Sue Wehrle Pickett, (husband Tom Pickett) of Salisbury, NC; grandson Mark Pickett, (wife Farrah Pickett) of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter Susan Pickett Drye of Kannapolis; and great grandchildren Ryne, Reagan, and Brooklyn Drye of Kannapolis, NC and Caroline and Megan Pickett of Raleigh, NC. DATE CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER…..The memorial service will be conducted at Franklin Presbyterian Church, Sunday, January 30th at 3 PM. Lillian will be interred next to her beloved husband, Butch, at Hug Cemetery in Pocahontas, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Presbyterian Church, 280 Franklin Church Dr., Salisbury, NC 28147. Summersett Funeral Home is assisting the Wehrle family with arrangements in Salisbury, NC. Online condolences may be made at www.summersettfuneralhome.com.
