Kitty Caddell Nussman

Kitty Caddell Nussman passed away Tuesday, December 16, after experiencing several years of declining health. Kitty was the daughter of the late Martha Lee Fields Caddell and Henry Chalmers Caddell. She grew up with five brothers and sisters in Spencer, NC, graduating with honors from Spencer High School. She graduated from Business College and began her career at CIT, continuing with Wagoner Construction Co. and retiring with commendations of outstanding service from USDA Soil Conservation Service. She was the wife of the late Wayne Methvin Nussman, whom she married in the First Presbyterian Church Manse in 1941, and remained a faithful member for 73 years. Her constant faith was a source of great comfort to her and her family, always. Kitty was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge, old movies, music, and observing nature from her porch in her later years. She was warm and welcoming to all, young and old and was gentle, kind and generous always. Her many friends, and those of her children, will remember her genuine interest in their lives, her warmth, her unfailing support, her positive attitude and her accepting nature throughout her life. She was a true and loyal friend, who deeply loved and took immense pride in her family, all whom meant the world to her. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kay Goodman (Mickey) of Asheville, NC and Jane Nussman, of Salisbury; her granddaughters Louisa Davis (Gene) of Greenville, SC, Hadley Cropp (Kevin) of Asheville, NC; and her dearest great-grandchildren Lila and Liam Davis and Day Cropp, along with many nieces, nephews and special family friends who brought her great joy. Her family wishes to recognize the kind dedication of Dr. Myron A. Goodman, as well as her devoted caregivers, Michelle Naylor, Jessica Clawson, and Lisa Medrano for their loyal, kind and constant care these last years. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Friday, December 19, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 308 W. Fisher St., Salisbury, NC, conducted by Dr. Jim C. Dunkin and Dr. Randal V. Kirby.
