Karen K. Morris

Karen K. Morris of 301 Stuart Dr. Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2016 surrounded by family and friends, after a prolonged illness. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 3, 1949, daughter of Colonel Russell Kresslov and Mary Rose Sparks Kresslov. Karen is survived by her devoted husband of over 35 years, Ron W. Morris. Karen will be greatly missed by her maternal cousin, Judy and husband, Steve G. Bodley of Roanoke, Virginia and their son Michael Baucom and wife, Jennifer and daughters Grace and Charlotte of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; fraternal cousin, Russell and Diana Vuich of San Diego, California. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Karen pursued her passion for interior design. Many commercial and residential clients in Salisbury, Charlotte and even Las Vegas were blessed to have Karen’s talent in helping them create beautiful spaces. Karen had an amazing appreciation for nature, which she embodied in her client’s designs as well as her own home. She loved the seasons, her favorite being Christmas. This past Christmas was especially joyful as she was in her home surrounded by family and friends, with her meaningful Christmas decorations. Karen took special care in thoughtful giving. She gave of herself, through her open arms and bright smile even on crutches and later, bedridden. Children were drawn to her loving spirit and warm hugs. She had a unique ability to share in their lives enhanced by her curious nature. Karen always had a special book recommendation for the many children in her life, encouraging them to be curious as well. Karen loved to challenge herself intellectually through reading and bridge. She made lifelong friends through her neighbors, bridge groups, and interior design work. Karen never met a stranger. She was quick to reach out and welcome anyone with her warm smile.
