Joan Leeds Dyson, 90, of Salisbury passed away Thursday (Oct. 21) at her home. She was in declining health but her death was unexpected. Born November 5, 1930 in Pleasantville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Mary Emma Risley Leeds and Frederick C. Leeds. Mrs. Dyson was employed by Eckerds Pharmacy for 28 years before retiring. She was of the Lutheran faith Joan was a lover of the outdoors. She loved flowers and chocolate. Before her eyesight started to failing she loved to sew and crochet and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Graham McCoy Dyson; son, Dale Graham Dyson; sisters, Kay Higgins and Beth Thomas; and her brother, Fred Leeds. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Joan Dyson of Salisbury; grandsons, Eric Ervin and Andy Crowell of Salisbury; granddaughter, Tasha Dyson of Raleigh; great-granddaughter, Mattan Ervin of Boone; great grandson, Andy Ervin of Asheville; daughter-in-law, Pat Dyson of Raleigh. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Dyson family.
