Jerry Thomas Simmons Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jerry Thomas Simmons, 75, of Salisbury, NC (formerly Winston-Salem for 40+ years) passed away February 28, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 5, 1946 in Cordova, NC to the late Cladie Lear Simmons and Taft Jerome Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force which he served in from June 1964-July 1968. He earned his Associate Degree from Richmond Community College and worked as a systems analyst for 40+ years. Mr. Simmons was an active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem for over twenty years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Simmons and Stanford Simmons and sister, Jean Simmons Burgess. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Sandra Nichols Simmons of Salisbury, NC; daughters, Alice Simmons Rich (Ryan) of Salisbury, NC and Carrie Simmons Kirby (John) of Waxhaw, NC; brother, Jim Simmons (Carolyn) Lyndhurst, VA; sister, Margie Simmons Parker of Cary, NC, sister-n-law Victoria Nichols Whitt (William Mitchell) of Rockingham, NC and grandchildren: Jacob Covington Kirby, Eve Victoria Rich, Kathleen Elaine Kirby and Samuel Kevin Rich. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday (March 4) at Summersett Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will follow at 2 PM Friday (March 4) in Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Rev. Chris Henson. Military Honors will be conducted at the service by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date at Zion United Methodist Church in Rockingham, NC.
