Mr. James Ray Barger

February 23, 1951 - January 21, 2022

James Ray Barger, 70, of Salisbury, NC passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at his home. James was born on February 23, 1951 in Rowan Co, NC to the late Margaret Foster Barger and Ray Willard Barger. He was a 1969 Graduate of West Rowan High School and attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He worked for Durham Life for 15-20 years achieving the LUTCF designation and was the owner of his own restaurant. James was a loving husband, a cherished father, and a doting grandfather. He had a passion for cooking and sharing fellowship with family and friends with meals he prepared. James was also a forever fan of the Washington Redskins and cherished football traditions with family and friends. #HTTR James was a member of Maupin Avenue Presbyterian Church. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Patricia Harper Barger; daughters, Christal Newsome of Concord, NC, Stacy Kluttz of Salisbury, NC and April Spry and husband Josh of Rockwell, NC; and grandchildren: Chase Newsome, Chloe Newsome and Cameron Kluttz. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Tuesday (Jan. 25) at Summersett Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday (Jan 26) at Maupin Ave Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Carroll Robinson.
