Donna "Gail" Edwards Kobylus

Donna “Gail” Edwards Kobylus, 81, of Salisbury, NC passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at The Laurels of Salisbury. Born February 3, 1937 in Bloomfield, NJ to the late Dorothy Slater and Robert Edwards, Jr., she was a graduate of Easton Area High School and attended Northampton County Community College. Gail was an Operator at Bell Telephone and Store Manager of Clover in Easton, PA. Gail was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, choir member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, choir member and Layreader at Trinity Episcopal Church in Easton, PA and PTA President. Gail had a smile that could light up a room. She was a supportive and fiercely loving mother who raised her children to take risks and to speak out for those who don’t have a voice. She had a mischievous spirit and an infectious laugh, which she used often. She was an avid baseball fan and had an uncanny ability to recall sports statistics, who also enjoyed rooting for football and college basketball. Gail loved God and enjoyed being an active and gracious member of her Church community and choir. She was an Awesome Grandmother who adored her grandchildren and was extremely proud of their accomplishments and personalities. She was raised at the ocean, loved the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea, and could filet a fish faster than anyone at the pier. She was an avid reader and a talented artist who enjoyed painting ceramics and making candles. Above all else Gail was devoted, supportive, and madly in love with her best friend and husband, Len. Together they enjoyed all the good things that life had to offer and weathered the challenges. Their life together was a model for their children and their love for one another was felt by all those who were in their presence. She will always be in our hearts. Until we meet again… In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Edwards, III and Gary O’Shea and sister, Alida Howell. Surviving is her beloved husband Leonard John Kobylus; sons, Leonard John Kobylus, Jr. and wife Patricia of Salisbury, NC and Robert Stanley Kobylus of Whitehall, PA; daughter, Kim Kobylus Patrick and husband Creed of Mooresville, NC; brother, Sargent O’Shea of Cape May, NJ; sister, Gae Elliott of Washington, DC; four grandchildren: Kristen Abernathy and husband Zach, Kourtney Batot, Mackenzie Patrick and Wilson Patrick and great-grandchildren, Justin Kobylus, Brandon Abernathy, and Christian Batot. A memorial service was held at 1 PM, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury, NC; officiated by Father Rossi. Inurnment took place at the U.S. National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family would like to thank the Laurels of Salisbury for their care of Donna Gail and the support they provided for the family.
