Daniel Michael Patterson

November 28, 1951 - January 15, 2022

Daniel Michael Patterson went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 15th 2022. Born in Concord on November 28, 1951, he was a son of the late John William Patterson Sr. and Ruth Rufty Patterson. He was a grandson of the late O.O. Rufty and Mary Lemly Rufty (Salisbury) and the late Lewis A. Patterson and Effie Michael Patterson (Concord). Danny was a 1970 graduate of North Rowan High School and retired in 2012 after a 39-year career with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a charter member and instrumental in the building of Friendship Baptist Church in its current location. He stood firm that “Jesus was the only way” and served his Lord in several capacities while in the church including Sunday School teacher and Deacon. After retirement he helped establish CrossLife Church, initially in Spencer then at its permanent home on Newsome Road. Danny enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, gardening and his beloved dachshunds, especially "Ginger, Lucy, Leo and Molly”. He loved his family and friends and was well loved by them. He was a great husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Family members left with cherished memories include his wife who was his high school sweetheart and best camping buddy, Jatana Smith Patterson; his daughters, Melody D. Patterson of Salisbury, Cristie P. Mitchell (Nick) of Rock Hill, SC and son Jason M. Patterson of Spencer. He had 6 cherished grandchildren; Austin Christopher Smith (Nicole), Taylor Meredith Smith, Evan Daniel Patterson, Aiden Myles Mitchell, Mason Scott Mitchell & Emma Jean Patterson. He is also survived by sister, Harriet Patterson Kluttz of Salisbury, brothers, John W. Patterson Jr. (Cindy) and Thomas Rufty Patterson (Jane) of Spencer. This is not a time to be sad, as Danny now lives life in a place that exceeds perfection in every way; a place where one's imagination can't fathom how awesome a life of bliss can be, a place where dreams become reality every moment of everyday; thank you all for your support and love, for Danny now lives in heaven!
