Dale Patrick McIntosh

February 26, 1946 - December 17, 2020

Dale Patrick McIntosh, 74, of Woodleaf, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Born February 26, 1946 in Rowan County he was the son of the late Oliver Kuropatkin McIntosh and Ida Rozelle Kepley McIntosh. He was educated in Rowan County schools and graduated from West Rowan High School in 1964. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. After the Army he came home and attended Catawba College, graduating in 1971. He worked as a Lab Tech at Rowan Regional Medical Center for several years. He went back to school and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill as a Surgical Physician Assistant. As a P.A. he specialized in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. He worked at Forsyth Medical Center and at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in their heart programs until he retired. After retiring he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Brenda Hensley McIntosh; daughter, Melanie M. Haire (Jim) of Woodleaf; son, John McIntosh (Ashleigh) of Concord; brothers, Jim McIntosh (Kristine) of Somerset, NJ, Tom McIntosh (Martha) of Newport News, VA, and Bill McIntosh (Jane) of Salisbury; sister, Susie McIntosh-Hinson of Salisbury; grandchildren, Cody Haire, Jake Haire and Malone McIntosh. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 26 at 1:00PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery with Pastor Ron Loflin officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army National Guard. Memorials may be made to Brenner’s Children Hospital’s Neo-Natal ICU Unit, Wake Forest Baptist Health Office of Philanthropy, P.O. Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021.
