Carlos Wood Poteat

November 17, 1939 - January 15, 2022

Carlos Wood Poteat, 82, of Salisbury, NC passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. He was born November 17, 1939 in Guilford County, NC to the late Robert Wood and Clara Hendrix Poteat. Carlos attended Cleveland High School and graduated from Southern Pilgrim College/High School. He worked in the construction / drywall business. Carlos loved gardening and setting up his tomato stand so he could visit with his customers. In earlier years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling the United States on his motorcycle. He made many special friends participating in the Senior games, especially enjoying bowling and softball. Carlos was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Carlos is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazelene Featherstone Poteat, daughter, Carla Lynne Earnhardt (Chris); sons, Monty Wood Poteat and Rodney Lee Poteat and wife Leslie; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sisters, Viola Yates and husband John and Irene Yates and husband Donald. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2PM at the Enon Baptist Church Mausoleum, conducted by Rev. Jeff Kincaid.
