January 18, 1933 - May 20, 2021
Ann Alexandra Fisher Hartley, 88, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center from natural causes. Born January 18, 1933 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Helen Davidson Fisher and Harry Lee Fisher, Sr. Mrs. Hartley graduated from Woodleaf High School and attended Salisbury Business College. She was a local artist and a member of the Art Guild. Mrs. Hartley had her own private art shows. A member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, where she taught children’s choir, taught the Adult Sunday School Class for 20 years, was a member of the Christians Women’s Club where she served on the Board of 10 years. She sung in the Living Christmas Tree at the First Baptist Church of Salisbury for 11 years, sung with the Billy Graham Crusade, she was the one in the pink shirt. Sung in the back up choir for the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at Liberty University. She was active in the Gold and Silver at the First Baptist Church of Salisbury, member of the Erna Lee Jones Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Salisbury. She was the sweetest woman on the planet and will be missed by all who knew her. She raised four wonderful children with a rambunctious husband. Mrs. Hartley was a wonderful wife and mother. She cooked and made the children’s clothes. She sewed bikinis and haltertops, learned to shop off the clearance rack so the clothes could not be returned. She loved bright colors, with a bright yellow living room and bright green kitchen, and a red, green and orange basement. She loved animals, horses, dogs, and hummingbirds. Ann was always a very good person. She thought good works would get you into heaven. One day her daughter, Deborah challenged her to memorize Galatians 2:16. She told her it was a tongue twister. Ann took that as a challenge. After she had memorized it she realized that salvation was obtained only by trusting Christ as Savior and not the works of the law. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert E. Hartley on November 15, 2014, granddaughter, Jessica Hartley and daughter-in-law, Michella Thomas Hartley. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Ann Hartley Garrigues and her beloved son-in-law Bradford Garrigues, Sr., Carol Lynn Hartley Featherstone and husband, James Paul Featherstone, III, John R. Hartley, and Anita Diann Hartley; sister, Helen Davidson Fisher Jacobs; grandchildren, Jeremy Featherstone, Robert Featherstone, Bradford Garrigues, Jr., Jonathan Garrigues, Debon Garrigues, and John Robert Hartley; great-grandchildren, Cole Garrigues, Thomas Garrigues, Chase Garrigues, Layni Featherstone, Robert James Featherstone, Emma Marie Featherstone, Trinity Garrigues, and Charleigh Garrigues. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday, (May 29) at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 PM with Dr. Brad Garrigues, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to charitywater.org.
