Zeta Miller Smith

Zeta Miller Smith, 96, of Salisbury, went Home to the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. Born July 16, 1926 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Edgar Miller and Agatha Eller Miller. She was a 1943 graduate of Spencer High School, was a seamstress, a dedicated mother, and an adored grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Bible Study, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. In her quiet time, she enjoyed reading scripture, completing sudoku puzzles and word searches, and watching Cincinnati baseball and Carolina Panthers football. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Harold Smith on June 25, 1999, as well as four brothers and three sisters over the years. Left to cherish her memory are her son Donald A. Smith, Jr. and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Nicole S. Moss and husband Chad, Angela S. Shores and husband Jonathan, David A. Smith, and Jennifer M. Smith; and great-grandchildren, Corbin, Morgan, and Emma. As the matriarch of her family, Zeta created traditions, inspired successes, and built futures that will last lifetimes. Nothing was more important than Jesus and family. She touched lives with smiles, food, and love, and will be remembered in family traditions, meals, shared recipes, treasured moments and conversations, and the sacrifices she made to see her loved ones attend college, start careers, raise families, and shine their lights into our world. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don R. Safrit officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.
