William Alexander Angel Jr.

William Alexander Angel, Jr. joined our Lord and Savior on August 29, 2022. Bill, as he was known by all who loved him, lived a life devoted to the Lord. Having been a member of The Arbor United Methodist Church for most of his life, he served as Trustee and on other various church committees, as well as a member of Methodist Men. After graduating from Woodleaf High School, Bill would go on to serve his country bravely for 4 years in the U.S. Navy where he earned the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class on the USS Essex. He also served in the National Guard. Employment included 15 years of maintenance at Fiber Industries, MAN truck and Bus and finally retirement from Phillip Morris in 1998 after 15 years. Bill was very active as a member of the Scotch Ireland Masonic Lodge 154 for 51 years. He held every position multiple times and was Master of the Lodge for 3 terms. He was currently serving as Treasurer. Bill filled many roles throughout his 84 years but the roles he filled the best were the roles within his family, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Born May 25, 1938, a devoted son to William Alexander Angel and Annie Mauney Angel. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Penninger Angel who he married on April 17, 1960. Together they had a son, Scott Angel (Dee). Others left to carry on his memory include his grandchildren: Timothy Ryan Angel and Jessica Yates Mowry (Derek); great-grandchildren: Annabella Grace and Jackson Mowry, Caylee and Cayden Beaver, and Aida Hopkins; sisters, Patricia Angel Murray of Florida and Mary Elizabeth Angel Sells (Mike) of Salisbury; niece, Kelly Cooley Safrit (Rick) and nephews Douglas and Geoffrey Mabe; and many, many other loved friends and family members. Bill’s family and friends will remember him as the loving man he was his whole life. Someone who was happy just to have a fishing pole in his hand. A man who loved his family and lived his life for God. His earthly life here is over but his eternal life has just begun. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Thursday (Sept 1) in the fellowship hall at The Arbor United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the church. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jacqueline Tookey will officiate the funeral service.
