Wayne Edwin Dover

Wayne Edwin Dover, 84, of Salisbury, NC was accepted into Heaven Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Brookstone Retirement Center in Lexington, NC with his loving wife holding his hand. Wayne was born May 1, 1941 in Shelby, NC to the late Clyde Dover and Grace Cooke Dover. He was educated in the Fallston School District and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Gardner Webb University. Wayne worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an area consultant and The NC State Grange. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 28 years, Anganetta “Angie” Dover; son, Rick Anderson of Salisbury, NC; nephew Steve Willis and wife Pat and special family, Jennifer and John; Julia and family and Dale and Jane Dixon. Wayne and Angie married in 1997 and Rick quickly decided that Wayne was what made their family complete. Wayne and Rick both were “clothes buffs” and loved to dress in true southern fashion. Wayne was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury where he served as an usher and loved helping members find their worship spot. He and Angie enjoyed serving on the Homebound Ministry team and visiting members that could not physically attend church, especially those in local nursing homes. Above all Wayne loved the Lord. Wayne was a true Southern Gentleman who always gave his left arm to his dear wife to lead her wherever she wanted to go. He loved to work outside in the yard and garden with Angie and was proud of their earning the Yard of the Month designation. When Angie began the Rowan Redbuds Garden Club, Wayne was by her side doing whatever was needed, including taking many photos. He and Angie enjoyed traveling. Wayne was a kind, loving man who loved deeply and dearly. His was a serviceman who wanted to serve mankind in any way needed. Wayne and Angie enjoyed helping at Sidewalk Deli, which was owned by their son Rick. Wayne especially loved to carry out meals to patrons and make sure everything was to their liking. Wayne will be entombed at Rowan Memorial Park on Tuesday (June 24) at 1:00 PM with a memorial service following at First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. The services will be conducted by Rev. Phillip Cooley, Rev. Wayne Cobb and Rev. Steve Gandy. Following the memorial service the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church. The Dover family would like to thank the loving staff of Brookstone Retirement Center that cared for Wayne and the entire family during his stay.
