Timothy Kenneth Hennie

Timothy Kenneth Hennie, of Salisbury, died in Providence, Rhode Island on Monday, October 21, 2024. Tim was born on July 13, 1980 in Columbus, Ohio and was known to those who knew him best as Timmy. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Salisbury and Bishop McGuinness High School in Winston-Salem then graduated from UNC at Charlotte with a double major in History and English. Tim loved the arts, studied film extensively and was an avid reader on many topics. He was a highly skilled writer which relayed his thirst for understanding the meanings of life. His wit and sense of humor even led him to become a developing stage comedian. Tim was a sports fan, and was a passionate follower of the Cleveland Browns football team. He not only played and excelled as an athlete as he was growing up, but was an excellent local coach in basketball, football, soccer and baseball. He was the quarterback coach at East Rowan in 2012 under Coach Misenheimer. He was a Rowan YMCA youth soccer coach for the past 5 years as well. Most importantly, Tim’s family meant the world to him. He was loved and cherished and without a doubt, brought smiles and laughter to all. His spirit will live on in all whose lives he touched in a wonderous way. Tim worked in a variety of settings throughout his adult life, but his most extensive and valuable experience was working for his father, Salisbury Optometrist, Timothy J. Hennie. Tim worked there for 27 years expressing a wide variety of roles, but was best when he was involved with patients as his personality was at its best when he dealt with people. Tim is survived by his son, Matthew Connor Hennie of Salisbury, NC; parents, Timothy J. and Mary J. Hennie of Salisbury, NC; sister, Jill Hennie Flynn and her husband Bernard of Charlotte, NC; nieces and nephews: Wyatt Flynn, Holden Flynn and Mae Flynn all of Charlotte, NC and Zoe Belle of Salisbury, NC. Also surviving him are his uncle, Joseph Darmstadt and wife, Robin of Phoenix, AZ, uncle, Fred Darmstadt of Phoenix, AZ, uncle, John Hennie of Georgia, aunt, Barbara Hennie of Mooresville, NC and aunt, Diane Carter of Georgia; and several loving cousins. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Summersett Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Timmy will surely be missed by all!
