Ruth Fertig Jones

Ruth (Gege) Miriam Fertig Jones, 96, of, Salisbury died Wednesday, October 3 at Alston Brook Nursing Home, Lexington, NC where she had been residing for the last month. Mrs. Jones was born on May 26, 1916 in Lykens, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Harry Lewis Shomper and Estella Lehman Corinda Shomper. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and attended nurses training at Ashland Hospital, Ashland, Pennsylvania. She was a member of North Hills Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Nathaniel, and Paul; and by sisters Lois and Naomi. Mrs. Jones worked as a dietician both at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania and Brandywine School District (Wilmington, Delaware). She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fremont Wallace Fertig who died on December 21, 1989 and by her second husband, Junior B. Jones, who died on June 1, 1992. She is survived by daughters: Corinda Kreidler (Robert) of Hockessin, Delaware, Caroline Adams (William), with whom she resided, and by RuthAnn Logan (Thomas) of Wilmington, Delaware. Gege had six Grandchildren, John Kreidler (Laurie), Drexel Hill, Pa; Janet Mettler (Bob) of Wilmington, DE; James Kreidler (Lisa) of Wilmington, DE; Deborah Thompson (Mark), Salisbury; William Adams, Jr. (Joy), Brandenburg, KY, David Adams (Connie) of Kernersville, NC; and one step-granddaughter Heather Logan of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by 18 great grandchildren whom she held dear as her "little lovies". A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in Summersett Memorial Chapel on 1315 West Innes St. Salisbury, NC 28144; conducted by the Rev. William K. Adams. Burial will follow at City Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Alston Brook Nursing Center for their caring and loving service during Mrs. Jones' stay.
