Ronald Wayne Brown

Ronald Wayne Brown, 73, of Salisbury, NC and formerly of Virginia Beach passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center. Ronald was born February 12, 1951 in Suffolk, VA, Ron dedicated his life to his family, whom he regarded as his greatest treasure. Ron proudly served in the Navy, where he became a 100% war-time disabled veteran, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. After his military service, he joined Davis Interiors, where he started as a welder and rose through the ranks to become the Vice President of Operations, dedicating over 30 years to the company. He was a lifelong learner, having attended Coleman Place and Lake Taylor High School, followed by Virginia Community College. Beyond his professional and military achievements, Ron was passionate about bird watching, a hobby that allowed him to appreciate the serene moments of life. Ron was a beloved husband to Ella “Cookie” Bennett Brown; and a cherished father to Jennifer Reeves of Virginia Beach, Brandy & John Oiler of Norfolk, VA, Olivia Hazelette of Virginia Beach, Sherry and Dan Dougherty of Salisbury, Anna and Danny Wood of Salisbury, Frank Smith and Mark Smith of Salisbury. He was a loving brother to Gary and Stacy Brown of Mooresville. Also left to cherish his memory is aunt, Betty Garrison of Charlottesville and 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his father Earl Brown, mother, Francis Johnson Brown, son Rustin Wayne Brown, brother, Phillip Brown, sister Sharon Bouley and son Michael Smith. The family will hold a memorial service at 2 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Summersett Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Lung Association honoring Ronald’s memory. Ronald Wayne Brown will be remembered for his unwavering love of his family and his commendable service to both his country and community.
