Robert D. Weast

Robert D. Weast, 92, of Mt. Ulla, NC, passed away December 29, 2024 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born August 21, 1932 in Bostic, NC, he was the son of the late Frank Chalmers and Annie Pauline Weast. A 1950 graduate of Mt. Ulla High School, he attended Appalachian State University for one year before entering the United States Army and served as the tank division radio commander at Fort Bragg. Following his discharge from the Army, he came back to help run the family dairy farm with his father. He continued to run the farm with his son until they sold it in 2005, he then delivered auto parts for several years. Bob was a member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry Weast; brother, Albert Weast; sister, Frances McKinney and twin sister, Jean W. Nolley. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Dean Weast, Jr. and wife Sahria M. Weast of Mt. Ulla; daughter, Sharon Weast Stout and husband Mark A. Stout of Mt. Ulla; grandchildren, Ryan A. Stout and wife Lindsay H. Stout, Meagan Stout Daly and husband Eric Daly; great-grandchildren, Hudson Stout, Ford Stout, Sloane Daly; Clint and Amanda Erwin; sister, Lois Salter of Mooresville and sister-in-law, Dot Weast of Mt. Pleasant. The Weast family would like to say a special thanks to Phyllis Steelman for being a part of the family for over 40 years and being such a wonderful friend to Dad. We would like to thank Melanie Mowery and Angela Bates for staying and taking wonderful care of him. Also, special thanks to doctors, Dr. Brent Seifert, Dr. Dennis Wilson and Ryan Schenk, PA for their compassionate care. The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, (January 6) at Thyatira Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Thrailkill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will speak to friends following the service.
