Reba Simmerson Shoaf

Mrs. Reba Simmerson Shoaf, 90, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Born March 16, 1923 in Forsyth Co, NC to the late Ann Owens Simmerson and Luther Bryant Simmerson, she was educated in Davidson County schools and graduated from Rowan Cabarrus Community College with a degree as an LPN. Mrs. Shoaf worked as a seamstress at Belk and retired from the VA Medical Center. She was a caregiver to many, loved gardening, and took pride in her yard. Mrs. Shoaf was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Morning Circle. Preceding her in death was her husband Hollis Wade Shoaf on August 16, 1962, two brothers, one sister and son-in-law, S.W. Brown, Jr. Surviving are her children: Rebecca “Becky” Brown of Mocksville, NC; Ann Ludwig and husband J.C. of Salisbury, NC; Nancy Thomas and husband Larry of Sanford, NC; Lynn Hulin and husband Jim of Linwood; grandchildren: Susan Hanschu of Mocksville, NC; Renee Sanders (Donnie) of Mocksville, NC; William Ludwig (Christa) of Rockwell; David Ludwig of Matthews; Jeremy Thomas (Amy) of Sanford; Leah Thomas of Raleigh; Eric Hulin (Mary) of Smithfield, NC; and Laura Gorman (Neal) of Lexington, NC. Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Wesley Ludwig, Luke Thomas, Abby Thomas, Ava Hulin, Katie Gorman, Kendall Gorman, and Alston Gorman. The funeral service will be 2 PM Friday (Mar 29) at Central United Methodist Church, 200 4th St., Spencer, conducted by Rev. Don Mason, Minister of Central United Methodist Church and Rev. Susan Bame, Minister of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Mocksville, NC. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. At other times the family will be at the home of Lynn Hulin. Burial will be private. The family wishes to express the deepest appreciation to Joyce Swinson at the Hope House Assisted Living for her care of our mother and to Cyndi Frasier who made her last two months special.
