Mrs. Phyllis Holmes Hendrix

Phyllis Ann Holmes Hendrix, age 79, of Salisbury passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer’s and passed away from a sudden illness. Phyllis was born March 21, 1938 in Loris, SC a daughter of the late Rosenell Cox Holmes and Willie Isaac Holmes. She was a graduate of Loris High School and worked for the Salisbury Post as a switchboard operator until her retirement in 2000. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and in her younger years she was a member of the Pilot Club of Salisbury. Phyllis was member of The Women’s Auxiliary of the Harold B. Jarrett Legion Post. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and especially loved her precious time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a son Charlie Frank Hendrix, Jr. and daughter Brenda Walton Osborne; brother Timmy Holmes; sisters Betty Gore and Lucille Moroff. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 52 years Charlie Frank Hendrix; daughter Beth Hendrix Davis (Mark) of Salisbury; god children Anna Edwards of Rockwell and David Isenberg of Raleigh; brothers Billy Holmes(Judy) of Little River, SC, Roger Holmes (Carolyn) of Little Mountain, SC, Larry Holmes (Kelly) of Loris, SC, Jeff Holmes of Loris, SC and Jimmy Holmes (Gail) of Loris, SC; sisters Jackie Hughes of Walterboro, SC, Jewell Stevens (Eddie) of Blythewood, SC, Gail Strickland of Green Sea, SC and Joan Lewis (Brooks) of Loris, SC; grandchildren Diedre Maloney (Brian) of Gastonia and Sophia Davis of Salisbury; great grandchildren Emmalee and Autumn Maloney of Gastonia. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter Beth Davis. Service: 12 Noon Friday, February 23, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Jill Smith with entombment to follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.
