Nancy Crump Hines

Nancy Evelyn Crump Hines, 73, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Nancy was born October 19, 1937, in Raleigh, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Luther Daniel Crump and Evelyn Thomas Crump. She attended Wake County Schools and was a 1955 graduate of Needham Broughton High School and a 1957 graduate of Peace College in Raleigh. On May 10, 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, George Eugene Hines, Jr., of the home. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Salisbury and was employed as a legal secretary for over 48 years. Nancy showed great strength, courage and dignity over the last several years as she valiantly battled cancer. She loved her annual trips to the beach with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. She took great joy and pride in talking about her family, most especially her grandchildren! In addition to her loving, devoted husband of 53 years, she is survived by her daughter, Lauren Hines Williams (and husband Gregg) of Salisbury; Daniel E. Hines (and wife Rosalind) of Advance, NC; granddaughters, Parker M. Williams and Madison A. Hines, and grandson Noah A. Hines. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. William Brinkley, and all the doctors and staff of Carolina Oncology; Dr. Bill Thompson, Andrea Shuping and Dawn Pinkston; Dr. and Mrs. Myron Goodman; the nurses of the RRMC 2nd Floor Women and Children’s Wing; and the caretakers of Hospice for their never-ending care and compassion. Service and Visitation: A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church Street, Salisbury, NC. Following the Celebration Service, the family will greet friends in the Church Fellowship Hall. Interment: The Columbarium at First United Methodist Church, at a later date. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rowan Regional Medical Center Hospice.
