Mr Lloyd "Jay" Beck

Mr. Lloyd “Jay” Beck, 91, of Salisbury, NC passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury. Born December 21, 1922 in Rowan County, NC to the late Roena Foard Beck and Lloyd O. Beck, he was a graduate of Spencer High School. He received a mechanical engineering degree from ICS. Mr. Beck completed a training program for part programming with Pratt and Whitney CNC Control Training School in West Hartford, Connecticut. He was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad after 43 years working as a project and development supervisor in the engineering department of Maintenance of Way. Mr. Beck was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. He was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a 32 degree Mason with the Fulton Lodge, a member of the Shrine Club, and a past worthy patron of the Eastern Star. Preceding him in death is his wife Emie L. Beck in October 1980; brothers, Edwarth Beck and Alvin “Pat” Beck; and sister, Lucille “Polly” Watson. Surviving are his sons, L. Kenneth Beck and wife Gail of Salisbury, NC and Wayne S. Beck of Gold Hill, NC; special nieces, Dorothy Stephens of Montezuma, GA and Gerry M. Smith of Bear, DE; sister, Elizabeth B. Miller of Salisbury, NC and sister-in-law, Peggy G. Beck of Salisbury, NC;. Three grandchildren Kiersten Beck of Richfield, NC, Lyndsay Martin of High Point, NC, Morgan E. Schneider and her husband Tom of Rockwell, NC, five great-grandchildren Emilee, Gilby, Montgomery, Audrey, Wade, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday (Oct 9) at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 PM Thursday (Oct 10) at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Kris Mares. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt.
