Lexie Trexler Crowell

Mrs. Lexie Trexler Crowell, 77, of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Novant Health/Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. She was born November 5, 1944, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Albert Lee Trexler and the late Mae Belle Curlee Trexler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Perry C. Crowell, Jr. on March 18, 2020, and brother Albert Lee Trexler, Jr. who died at birth in 1947. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Christopher Lee Crowell and wife Angela Sharon Piatt of Salisbury; grandsons Brandon Taylor Morgan of Cleveland; Justin Derek Crowell and wife Andromeda Breana Crowell of Durham; Joseph Cameron Crowell of Salisbury; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was especially close to and fond of her cousin Anne Croyle who felt more like a sister, and whose love and support will always be cherished. Lexie lived a life of service to all she knew, personally and professionally. She spent more than 50 years as a cosmetologist with a well-known gift for working with damaged and difficult hair. She truly enjoyed what she did and made many friends along the way. She went out of her way to care for others, including her customers to whom she went when they couldn’t come to her, from their homes to nursing homes and finally to funeral homes where she always honored them with a final gesture of service. She and her husband will be remembered for providing a safe and loving home for their son, grandsons and many animal companions. “Maw Maw Lexie” doted over her family and was happiest making them happy. Like her husband, she had a soft spot for animals, rescuing dozens along with him. She loved flowers and arrangements, and spent time working for her aunt at Catherine’s Florist in the 70s. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 10:00AM at the Salisbury VA National Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dale Robertson officiating.
