Kathy Cash Aldridge

Kathy Cash Aldridge, 71, of Salisbury, NC, formerly of Wingate, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 9, 1950, in Charlotte, to Clifton Cash and Martha Lee Starnes Cash. A 1968 graduate of Forest Hills High School, Kathy continued her education at Appalachian State, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She then went on to earn her master's degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University. Kathy worked in education for many years. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her husband, her three sons and her four grandchildren. She loved reading, was a passionate fan of Duke basketball and enjoyed swimming in the family pool every summer. From two trips to Disney World, a visit to Niagara Falls and numerous trips to the beach and mountains, she cherished spending time with her family. As a mother, Kathy spent countless hours at her sons' ballgames and practices, cheering on her boys and their friends. She treated her sons' friends as if they were her own children. Kathy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don Aldridge; son Alex Aldridge of Wingate, NC; son Lee Aldridge and his wife Jennifer of Salisbury, NC; four grandchildren: Dylan Aldridge of Bluffton, SC; Landon Aldridge of Centerton, AR; and Cooper and Caroline Aldridge of Salisbury; her sister, Karen (Mack) Gaddy of Asheville, NC; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Cash and Martha Lee Starnes Cash; and her son, Blake Aldridge. A funeral service and visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, at 4:00 PM at Summersett Funeral Home, 1315 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC, 28144. Another visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 7, at 12:00 PM at the Wingate Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 109 E. Elm Street, Wingate, NC 28174. The family would like to send a special thank you to Kathy's caregiver, Michelle Naylor, and to Community Home Care and Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wingate Volunteer Fire Department, 101 W. Wilson Street, Wingate, NC 28174.
