Junior Reid Link

Junior Reid Link,85, of Salisbury, went to be with his Lord April 19, 2011 at his residence after a three month battle with stage 4 colon and liver cancer. Born May 27, 1925 in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Floyd Young Link and Sadie Kepley Link. Mr. Link attended Lingle and Hurley schools. Junior worked for Southern Railway, owned and operated his own Link egg farm from 1958 to 1968, was employed by J. H. Wilson and Sons Construction when they built Milford Hills Baptist Church sanctuary and Enon Baptist Church sanctuary, Marshall Wood and Sons Construction, building houses and then worked for his son at Reid Link Construction, building custom homes where he retired in 2007 after 30 years of service to care for his wife who has Alzheimer’s. After retirement, he enjoyed being outside, building, making wood crafts, watching his garden grow, and talking to people who stopped to buy his vegetables. He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Link. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, who he loved dearly and worked by his side for many years on their farm; Mary Lou Brintle Link; son, Reid Link and wife Deborah of Salisbury; daughter, Mary Ann Link Moore and husband Eric of Cleveland; brother, Thomas Link (Betty) of Salisbury, sisters, Virginia Crump (Roy) of Belmont, and Beatrice Dagenhardt (Robert) of Mooresville; and two grandchildren who he also dearly loved and was proud of, Stephen and Heather Link of Salisbury. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM – Saturday (Apr. 23) at Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Hefner and Rev. Mike Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Friday at the Summersett Funeral Home, and the remainder of the time the family will be at the home.
