Judy Ann Montgomery Motley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet mother, Judy Ann Montgomery Motley, 81, of Salisbury, who has gained her wings after a long hard battle with cancer. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Tucker Hospice House. Born April 26, 1944 in Jamaica, West Indes, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Malabre Montgomery and Baxter Montgomery. She graduated from Boyden High School in 1963 and attended Salisbury Business School. She was a sales associate with Palmers Stationery and Earles Office Supply. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell where she enjoyed her Friendship Sunday School class. She liked reading, going to the beach, painting, porch time, boat rides, animals and taking care of her dog Sassy. She was the best wife, mother, and grandmother- a living testimony of her faith and one of the strongest people that you would ever meet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” G. Motley June 23, 2006; brothers, Douglas Montgomery and John Montgomery and son-in-law, Michael Rescigno. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Andrew “Andy” Motley of Wilmington; daughters, Julieann Motley White (Travis Alyn) and Sigrid Motley Rescigno both of Salisbury; brother, Michael Montgomery (Marian) of McLeansville; sister Diana Covington (Mark) of Kernersville; and grandchildren, Mary Brooke Curlee, Travis Curlee, Wyatt Curlee, Ian Rescigno and Nick Rescigno; sister-in-laws, Linda Caldwell of Salisbury and Mary “Bunny” Montgomery of Lincolnton; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends 10 -11 a.m. Monday (July 14) at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel, Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park. Judy's family will treasure forever the memory of her laughter and sense of humor, her compassion, and how she “touched the lives of many” through her kindness.
