Jerry Alan Schenk

Jerry Alan Schenk, 78, 0f Albany, Georgia (formerly of Cleveland, NC), went to be with the Lord Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Jerry was born in Rowan County on May 22, 1947 to the late Junior R. “Jerry” and Mary Katherine Schenk. He graduated from West Rowan High School and attended Wingate and Catawba Colleges. He served in the Army National Guard, Salisbury, NC. He was a crane operator for Daniel Construction (Fiber Industries) in Salisbury, NC. He worked for Reynolds Aluminum and Stroh’s Brewery can division. His later jobs with WR Grace, Henkle Chemical and DA Stuart allowed him to travel to many different countries, experiencing many cultures and meeting many nice people. He was a Technical Service Tech and Sales Representative. He was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda S. Wingate Schenk of Albany, Georgia; daughter, Crystal S. Watkins of Charlotte, NC; stepchildren, Keith Wingate and Tambi Wingate Williams of Albany, Georgia; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith (William) of New River, NC and Noah Williams of Salisbury, NC; great-grandsons Will and Josh Smith; sister, Susan “Susie” Saine (Darriell); nephews, Chad Saine (Jennifer), Brian Saine (Kristin); three great-nephews, Brock, Carson and Garrett Saine all of Cleveland, NC; eight step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren; along with many cousins who loved him. Jerry often recalled happy times as a child when he helped his grandparents, Jack and Eva Waller on their farm. His job was to bring the cows from the bottom pasture to be milked. He retold many times how a racer snake charged him a fourth of a mile all the way back to the barn while bringing in the cows. In later years, he liked riding the lawn mower, watching old cowboy and war movies, watching baseball and football games and weekly visits to Dollar General on Saturdays. The family will receive friends 1 – 2 p.m. Monday (April 13) at Summersett Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Lebanon Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev.
