Glenna Mildred Gaddy Hill

Mrs. Glenna Mildred Gaddy Hill, 87, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Monday, December 10, 2012. Born May 24, 1925 in Buncombe County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Grace Rhodes Gaddy of Waynesville, NC. Mrs. Hill graduated from Haywood County Schools, completed training as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1966, and worked in various clinical settings until retirement. She and her husband relocated to High Point, NC in 1970, and again to Salisbury in 1991. In 2006, Mr. Hill preceded Mrs. Hill in death. A life-long Christian, Mildred attended several worship centers during her life, and for the past 6 years was a faithful member of Neel Road Baptist Church. Her life was a witness of her Christian faith, and as a role model for all women; an inspiration to all who knew her. We will miss her loving presence and beautiful smile. She was a loving wife and mother, investing much time in the lives of her children, while creating a nurturing home environment for her family. Family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Anne Hill Bridges (Charles) of Clyde, NC; son, Leo C. Hill, II (Leslie Gay) of Clemmons, NC; daughter, Katherine Hill Miller (William) of Salisbury, NC. In addition, Mrs. Hill leaves six married grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Elizabeth Henson of Atlanta, GA. The Rev. Dr. Neal Westbrook will conduct a celebration of Mrs. Hill’s life at 1:00PM at Neel Road Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Immediately following, the family will continue the celebration by greeting friends in the Fellowship Building, adjacent to the church until 4:00PM. Interment will occur at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Waynesville, NC on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00PM with Rev. Terry Rowland officiating. The family would like to extend sincerest thanks to Dr. Shellhorn, Rowan Diagnostic, Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, Rowan Regional Medical Center, and all of her church family for their loving care of Mrs. Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Neel Road Baptist Church, Music Department, Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Hill family.
