Mrs. Genine Hopkins Miller

Genine Elizabeth Hopkins Miller was the second born daughter of Worth and Martha Sue (Julian) Hopkins. Genine came bounding into this world, April 30, 1955. Genine’s early life was spent traveling around the United States, as a ’Military Brat.’ This early travel allowed her, along with her family, the opportunity to explore different parts of this wonderful country. From North Carolina, Virginia, Oregon, Hawaii, and New York City (a place she considered her personal playground), life was an educational adventure. Returning to Salisbury, she graduated from North Rowan High School in 1974. She attended college in Atlanta, (valedictorian) enjoying the experience to the fullest. In 1980, she met and married Thomas Mauldin, resulting in the joys and loves of her life, her beautiful daughters… Jillian Diane (Mauldin) Gunter and Caitlin Elizabeth Mauldin. Although the marriage was short-lived, the absolute pure love of her daughters gave Genine gratitude for the marriage. A few years later, Genine’s heart expanded to include loving sons from another mother, (twins) Dylan & Evan, and their younger brother Chase Mauldin. A few years went by… While attending a Labor Day festival in Spencer she met and fell in love with Phillip Wesley Miller, the true love of her life. Together they enjoy many adventures, a love of family vacations from the beach to Walt Disney World. Wes and Genine shared 27 years of marriage. Genine retired as an executive administrator from the VA Hospital, after working there for 30 years, in 2016. Her retirement became memorable for a few reasons, her husband Wes, went to meet his heavenly reward and her grandson, Maverick was born. Genine was met at the gates of Heaven by her late father, Worth and her much-cherished and greatly missed husband, Wes. At the time of her passing, Genine was at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She left this world in wrapped in much love, prayer, peace, and light. Those left to cherish her memory are her beautiful daughters, Jillian Diane (Mauldin) Gunter, Caitlin Elizabeth Mauldin (Chris), her sisters (and best friends) Karen Hyde-Augusta (Captain Mike), and Julia Leach(Fred), and her loving sons from another mother, William Dylan Mauldin (Kelsey), Kenneth Evan Mauldin (Molly), and Robert Chase Mauldin (Celina). Her adored and much loved grandchildren, Reese Elizabeth Gunter, Maverick Koa Mauldin-Faavesi, Bailey Amelia Faavesi, Caitlin Lee Faavesi, and Marcus Khol Mauldin. Genine was adored by the Miller Family, her VA family, numerous friends and many extended loved ones. The family will receive friends at the Residence, 810 Long Ferry Road, Friday, August 14 from 4 – 7:00 PM. A celebration of Genine’s life will be at a later date.
