Faye Miller Hawks

Faye Miller Hawks, 74, of Salisbury, was granted her Angel Wings on Sunday, May 13, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched throughout her very memorable life. Faye was born in Salisbury on August 26, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Hayden, Miller, Sr. and Annie Overman Miller. Faye was educated in the Salisbury schools and graduated from Boyden High School. She was employed for Raylass Department Store and Food Lion’s Harrison Rd. Office before retiring. She was a member for the Second Presbyterian Church and attended North Main Street Baptist Church, China Grove. She enjoyed going with her brother, Howard, to play bingo and embroidering pillowcases and crocheting. Though her life seemed short to those who loved her, she lived it with a grace, compassion and love for her family that exceeded all bounds. Her determined spirit and positive attitude were traits that will always be remembered by her family, friends and church. She gave us all such courage, hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Although she was an amazing wife, sister, aunt and friend, there are no words to express the magnitude of her dedication, devotion and love to her greatest calling – that of being a mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clifton Hawks, Jr., a son, Phillip Leon Miller and a sister, Donna Miller and son-in-law, Bob Craig. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Miller Overcash and husband Freddy, Julie Davis Craig; son, Thomas Steven Davis, Jr. and wife Nancy all of Salisbury, brothers, Hayden C. Miller, Jr. of Supply and Howard Miller and Donnie Miller of Salisbury; grandchildren, Josh Overcash, Erica Garmon, David Sides, Justin Davis, Brittany Davis, Alex Thwett, Amanda Davis, Ashley Davis, and Alexis Craig. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM – Thursday (May 17) at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Beaver, minister of Main Street Baptist Church, China Grove and Rev. Jimmy Porter. Interment will follow at Beulah Land Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM – Wednesday at Summersett Funeral Home and will be at the home of Connie Overcash at other times.
