Mrs Evelyn Myers Kluttz

Evelyn Myers Kluttz, 82, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. Born May 7, 1932, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Steele and Ethel Myers. She was educated at Granite Quarry School and later received her General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. She retired from Cone Mills after 25 years of service in 1999. She was a member of Union Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Catherine Mahaley Sunday School Class and the Anna Petrea Women’s Group. She was an avid reader and took computer classes. She loved to send and receive emails and electronic greeting cards. Preceding her in death were her son, Luther Frank "Buddy" Kluttz III; sisters Yvonne Pickler, Betty VanDee, and Gaynell Gibbons Fisher. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include: son Ken Kluttz (Glenda) of Salisbury; daughters Susan Smith (Ben) of Summerfield, NC; Cathy Painther (Troy), June Pryor (Tim), of Salisbury; and Mary Bost (Carl) of Mount Pleasant. She was “Grandma Evie” to her grandchildren, Jennifer Curlee (Scott), Jason Earnhardt, Tabitha Benfield (Brandon), Ashton Pryor (Daphne Safrit), and David Pryor of Salisbury; Stacy Earnhardt of Carolina Beach; Halie Clifton (Colton), Grace Smith, and Ashley Earnhardt (Ben Wilmore) of Raleigh; Adam and Megan Bost of Mount Pleasant; sister Clara Rogers of Salisbury and brother Tom Myers of High Point. She had four great-grand children. Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.in Dutch Meeting Hall of Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury. Service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Union Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Nuottila officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials: Union Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 and the Glenn Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144.
