Don Julian

Don Julian of Salisbury died March 8, at the Glenn A Kiser Hospice House. Wife Edith (Folger) and son Jeff, the loves of his life, were at his bedside as he transitioned. Other dearly loved survivors who faithfully kept watch over him during his stay are daughter-in-law Dawn Sharpe Julian, grandchildren Meredith and Garren Julian, special niece Rae Eagle, Mary and Gary Sharpe, and Larry and Edith Bolick. Other beloved relatives who live out of town are special niece Kim Eagle Howard, and husband Jeff, daughter Ellie, sons Cress and Price of Atlanta; his sister Karen Sloop and family, and brother Benny and his son Darrin, and several cousins. Don graduated from Landis High School in 1954. His fond remembrances of that time were high school football games. Don, the center, and friend and neighbor Billy Ray Barnes, quarterback, and the late Larry Ford were standouts on the team that was hard to beat. After graduating, he joined the USAF serving in SAC, a specified command unit at that time. We express our deepest love and gratitude to all the earthly angels who attended him during his final days – Dr. Chet Amin, the loving, caring, and dedicated staff at Kiser Hospice, a true heaven on earth facility, and to other relatives and friends who were always there for us. Also, we deeply appreciate the kindnesses expressed by residents and staff at Trinity Oaks, staff at Rowan Diagnostic Clinic, and to Summersett Funeral Home for their dignified, courteous service. Flowers are beautiful but not long lasting as a charitable gift is. If desired, send a memorial to your favorite charity. Ours is Nazareth Child and Family Connections, formerly known as the Nazareth Children’s Home in Rockwell, NC. Many children over many years were provided a safe haven here, nurtured in a stable, Christian environment and given opportunities for maximizing their opportunities for growth and development while away from their home settings. Although his song has ended, his melody lives on. As we rejoice and celebrate Don’s life, full of love, fun, and laughter, we want to give him a joyous sendoff rather than a solemn one. Keep in mind, and calling on your sense of humor, rearrange the letters in Funeral to find the phrase Real Fun. He’d like that. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, March 15th, at Trinity Oaks chapel on 2nd floor. A reception will follow in the adjoining room where a catered meal will be served to all. Dress casually and join us as you are able.
