Dennis Rodney Armes

Dennis Rodney Armes, 73, of Salisbury, passed away March 16, 2024, at Liberty Lane Hospice at the Salisbury VA. Born April 4, 1950, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Paul M. Armes and Geneva Hubbard Armes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Vietnam era and gained many life lessons, memories and lasting friendships through his service. He attended Central Piedmont Community College to study Photography and cherished the memories he was able to capture with his camera, especially of his family. Throughout the years he also ran a catering truck, worked in construction and was employed with Food Lion for 16 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating, birdwatching and hiking in his favorite place in the mountains, Traphill, NC. Dennis was the life of the party, able to capture his audience with his quick wit and strong intellect. He loved music and had an amazing ability to recite songs and limericks. He also had a knack for grilling and cooking delicious food and could beat anyone in a hot pepper eating contest. One of his favorite pastimes was playing any trivia game, and he was confident in his ability to know the correct answers. He was able to travel to many parts of the world and enjoyed learning and telling stories about his experiences. A member of Rodgers Park Reformed Church, and he grew up in Centerview Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Victoria Jones Armes; daughters, Karma Lippard (Chris), Amanda Motlow (Evan) and Marissa Bizzio (Bob Yeomans); brother, Monte Armes (Marsha); sister, Linda A. Mott (John); grandchildren: Grayson Kellum, Pressley Kellum, Macy Motlow, Rush Motlow; step-children, Jon Sherrill (Kristen) and Leigh Ann Caraway (Scott); step-grandchildren, Emily Snooks (Hunter), Caleb Sherrill, Josiah Sherrill, Abigail Sherrill, Noah Carawan and Joseph Carawan. Visitation will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 from 9:00-9:45AM at Summersett Funeral Home. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 10am Monday in the Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd. location.
