Mr Curtis Henry Livengood

Mr. Curtis Henry Livengood, 84, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. Livengood was born March 21, 1929 in Rowan County to the late Susie Mowery Livengood and Lee Franklin Livengood. He was educated at Woodleaf High School. Curtis worked for Pepsi Cola Company for 11 year, and retired from Cone Mills with 32 years of service as a shop maintenance mechanic. He was a lifetime member of Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was active in the Harry Steele Sunday School Class and the Friendship Club. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved his farming and enjoyed sharing his mountain home with all his friends and family. Curtis was preceded in death by one son Curtis Wayne Livengood, one grandson Todd Wayne Livengood, three brothers Richard, Junior, and Melvin Livengood, three sisters, Sadie Allen, Helen Crawford, and Lottie Graham. Those left to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years Kate Carico Livengood, three sons Tim Livengood and wife Marchel of Salisbury, Dale Livengood and wife Sharon of Woodleaf, Eddie Livengood and wife Becky of Salisbury, one daughter Becky Carlton and husband Tim of Salisbury, one brother Ray B. Livengood of Terrell, NC, one sister Katrina L. Gortman of Charleston, SC, 11 grandchildren Allen, John Curtis, Travis and Lindsay Livengood, Matt and Brent Carlton, Audrey Huss, Julie Stoots, Amber Williamson and Drake Bowers and 12 Great-grandchildren. Visitation and Service: visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday (May 12) at Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall. The funeral service will be 4PM Sunday at Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Heglar, Rev. Frank Gordon and Rev. Mary Gordon Officiating. Burial will follow at the church Cemetery.
